Sakshat, named in Hindi, is a tablet computer designed in India as a low cost gadget. It is by far the most advanced indigenous 'roll-out' of the gadget industry. However, the new prototype, at $35 unveiled in 2010 has been met with enthusiasm. 

The device has been developed as part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology that aims to connect 25,000 colleges and 400 universities on the subcontinent together in a single e-learning program via an existing Sakshat portal. Its manufacturer, HCL Technologies, has come up with an international price tag of $35.

Earlier, India's Human Resource Development Minister, Kapil Sibal unveiled a prototype on July 22, 2010. The price of the device exhibited was projected to be around $35. After the new device was unveiled, OLPC Chairman Nicholas Negroponte offered full access to OLPC technology, free of cost to the Indian team.

Sakshat tablet will be launched by HCL technologies. According to a contract with the government of India, HCL will manufacture 100,000 tablets in the first phase. Indian government has commissioned Rs 300 million for Sakshat tablet project.
